Dads, Pray Continually!
Paul goes on to say [in Ephesians 6:18] that we must always be in prayer for our children. When the apostle says, “pray at all times,” this includes a father’s prayers for his children.
To “pray at all times” does not mean that we are to pray out loud verbally every moment of every day, with our heads bowed, eyes closed, knees bent. If we did that, there would be no time to do other things that God calls us to do—things like work, witness, Bible study, fellowship, worship, and service to God. So, what does this mean?
Praying continually means living with an attitude of prayer, being always dependent upon God in prayer, being ever ready to bring whatever crosses our path to God in prayer. As soon as we face a need, that’s when we are to pray. In other words, we should live with a continual God-consciousness. It means always bringing the needs of our children to him in prayer.
As the spiritual leader of our home, when something good happens to our children, we should stop immediately and thank God. When we see them in need or in trouble, we should seek His help immediately on their behalf. When we discover them entrapped with wrong actions or selfish attitudes, we should promptly pray for God’s conviction to come to their lives. Or, as they are away from home, we should continually pray for their protection from temptation. The point is, in whatever circumstances our children find themselves, we are to be standing with them in prayer—continually!

Resolution 22: Resolved, to endeavor to obtain for myself as much hapiness, in the other world, as I possibly can, with all the power; might, vigor, and vehemence, yea violence, I am capable of, or can bring myself to exert, in any way that can be thought of."
