His Protection is Good
God expresses His kindness through the protection He provides for His own. An earthly father who loves his children wants to protect them. Infinitely greater than that of a human father is God’s protection of His own children. With omnipotent might and wise intervention, God shields us from all that would harm us.
This doesn’t necessarily mean God will keep us from all danger, but we know from reading His Word that He will safely preserve us in the midst of our trials and keep us from anything that will not work for our ultimate good. As a loving Father, God knows what we can handle without failing. Therefore, He promises that He will never allow us to be tempted beyond what we can endure (1 Corinthians 10:13). Nothing comes into our lives that has not first passed through His hands.
With words of strong encouragement, the prophet reminds us:
The LORD is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble, And He knows those who make refuge in Him. (Nahum 1:7)
In this verse, one that we considered earlier, God’s goodness is pictured as an unshakable refuge that protects us from harm when we run to Him with humble trust in our times of adversity. He is our unassailable tower, a mighty fortress to all who rely on Him, a shield of protection in the midst of threatening storms (Psalm 18:1-2).
Do you find yourself in a time of trouble? Are you presently in the midst of a turbulent storm of life? Know that God is your ever-present stronghold, able to protect you from all that would harm you. As you put your trust in Him, you will find His loving arms around you, shielding you from the harmful forces that otherwise would crush you.

He who does not kill sin along the way is making no progress in his journey...the vigour, and power, and comfort of our spiritual life depends on the mortification of the deeds of the flesh.".

The Mortification of Sin
Encouraging and a great reminder in seeking and relying on the Lord in day to day things.
